UPI deep link
A link that opens the customer's UPI app with the amount and the payee already filled in.
A UPI deep link is a special address that any UPI app on the phone understands. Tapping it opens the app with the business's UPI ID and the amount filled in; the customer only confirms.
It is free to use and needs no payment gateway, but the business must mark the payment as received itself, unless a gateway such as Razorpay or Cashfree is used, which reports it automatically.
Why it matters
It is the zero-cost way to take payments on WhatsApp for a business that is just starting.
