Webhook
The address where Meta delivers each incoming message to the business's software, within a second.
When a customer sends a message, Meta forwards it to a web address the business registered, called a webhook. The software at that address reads the message and sends a reply through Meta.
Each delivery is signed, so the software can check it really came from Meta. If the address is down, Meta retries for a while.
Why it matters
It is why the reply can arrive in under a second, and why the server must stay up.
